Purpose of the Guide • To support New York State school districts as they implement the Next Generation English Language Arts Learning Standards
The Guide is Divided Into Two Parts • First Part • Overview of the standards • Changes from the 2011 ELA standards • Application of standards for all students • Educators resources for understanding and implementing • Second Part • The NYS Curriculum Alignment Reflection Tool used with the standards to create ELA units that facilitate high quality student learning
