  1. Brian D. Lerner An Immigration Lawyer – Professional Solutions For Immigration Issues Reporter: How do you know how to help people: Brian Lerner: I have nearly 25 years of experience. Therefore, I am able to give a 10 minute consultation (most the time less than that) and know exactly what the situation is and how to help the client. I pull from my experience in deportation, removal, visas, consult processing, appeals, waivers, jurisdictional issues, federal court and many other areas. Immigration Law is like a 10,000 piece puzzle and you would need to know about all the various pieces and how they interact with each other in order to give the proper advice. Reporter:I understand that many people go to a ‘Notario’ because the cost is much less. What do you think of this? Brian Lerner: Sometimes giving an example is the best way. However, if you went to a restaraunt and paid for a filet mignon steak and instead got chopped frozen hamburger, you might not think you got your moneys worth. In fact, in Mexico ‘Notario’ is another word for an attorney. However, in the U.S., unfortunately, a Notario is mostly somebody who knows very little about immigration law and most time time gives advice that is atrociously wrong. For example, a notary will know applying for asylum results in the immediate issuance of a work permit. I have seen this time and time again. The client will get a work permit, but in exachange - a fraudulent asylum application is filed and the person ends up with a deportation order in absentia and gets forcibly deported from the U.S. Not really saving alot of money in the long run. Reporter: What about the consultations? Brian Lerner: I offer free consultations so that I can determine how best to help people. After the consultation, the client will know how best I can help them and what are the costs.
