Pre-departure Preparation • Exchange application (to host institutions) • Course enrollment (quota, pre-requisites, cross-faculty/school enrolment restrictions) • Visa application • Health insurance & body check • Accommodation & meal plan • Leave of absence & credit transfer • Arrange to pay HKU tuition fee • Know your host institution and country • Be prepared for culture shock
Credit transfer • Grades will NOT be transferred • Grades will NOT be included in honours classification • Grades WILL be considered for Dean’s Honours List (one-semester exchange only) • Do NOT choose “Pass/Fail” grade
Credit transfer • Apply for credit transfer using standard application form after confirmation of course enrollment (www.exchange.fbe.hku.hk) • Attach detailed course descriptions • No. of contact hours, topics covered, assessment methods and textbook titles • Refer to credit transfer database, user ID: faculty, password: exchange) • Must seek approval before amending course enrolment • Leave of absence application deadline: before HKU’s term start • Email application is fine
When you arrive… • Contact International Office • Register with your Faculty/School • Join Orientation activities • Email your contact details (new address, email address & phone no.) to ug@fbe.hku.hk • Source affordable textbooks
After Exchange • 1,000-word essay on your interesting exchange experience • At least 10 digital photos (with University/School logo, international students, in-class or extra-curricular activities) • Faculty Exchange students: Get your exchange deposit from Faculty Office
