EXIST - Contest Approach of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research • "EXIST - University-based start-ups" programme • Aims • Permanent creation of "culture of entrepreneurship" at higher education organisations • Increase of knowledge spillover into economic value added • Promotion of the potential of business ideas and entrepreneurs at higher education organisations • Increase of number of innovative enterprise start-ups

EXIST - Contest Approach of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research • "EXIST - University-based start-ups" programme • Conception • Competition started in December 1997 • Aim of competition: Identification and award of best ideas • Basic requirements: co-operation of at least 3 different regional partners, including 1 higher education institution • Results: 109 proposals with more than 200 higher education institutions. 5 winners: bizeps (Wuppertal-Hagen), Dresden exists, GET UP (Ilmenau-Jena-Schmalkalden), KEIM (Karlsruhe-Pforzheim), PUSH! (Stuttgart)
