3. Main results – Indicator 1: National Higher Education Policy on Entrepreneurial Learning (1/6) • 5 state and 10 private universities • Entrepreneurship as an obligatory course only on business schools and few engineering schools • Entrepreneurship is obligatory course for all students on the Mechanical Engineering Faculty, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University • Only at 3 Universities there are Business Start-up centers (one at Mechanical Engineering Faculty) • On 2 Universities are technology transfer centers (one at Mechanical Engineering Faculty) • Many student associations, but not directly entrepreneurship related Phase 2: Pilot Project in entrepreneurship in higher education

Main results – Indicator 1: National Higher Education Policy on Entrepreneurial Learning (2/6) • Ministry of Education and Science (TEMPUS office) supports several projects related to E-ship (development of PhD on E-ship and Development of E-ship Universities – stared 2009) • Agency for Entrepreneurship Promotion in MK (APPRM) is implementing policies developed for SME within Ministry of Economy. In the annual programs for 2007, 2008 and 2009 there was a budget for students from all universities for training on entrepreneurship. APPRM organizes on all universities roundtables on the topic: “Employment vs. self-employment”. • Ministry of Education and Science placed in 2008 course of “Entrepreneurship and Business” as an obligatory course to all High Schools and Gymnasiums Phase 2: Pilot Project in entrepreneurship in higher education

Main results – Indicator 1: National Higher Education Policy on Entrepreneurial Learning (3/6) • Ministry of Economy (SME department and Charter coordinator) is main promoters for Entrepreneurship • Main event for Entrepreneurship promotion is EU Day of the Entrepreneur (EDE) - 09 May (every year since 2005) • EDE events are organized by European Business Association, Ministry of Economy-Department for SMEs, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University Business Start-up Centre, Agency for Promotion of Entrepreneurship in Macedonia, Macedonian Foundation for Development of Enterprises, Chambers of Commerce, etc. • Other E-ship promotional events: • Global Entrepreneurship Week – since 2008 • European SME week – since 2009 • The Entrepreneur of the Year Award – since 2008 Phase 2: Pilot Project in entrepreneurship in higher education

Main results – Indicator 1: National Higher Education Policy on Entrepreneurial Learning (5/6) • First serious event for discussion for EL in HE: European Day of the Entrepreneur 9th May 2009 - all University representatives, Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Education and Science (Dissemination event for indicators) • On 3 June 2009 Macedonian Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Education and Science signed the Declaration for promotion of EL in HE • Established National Centre for Development of Innovations and Entrepreneurship Learning on 19 Nov 2009 Phase 2: Pilot Project in entrepreneurship in higher education

10. Main results – Indicator 1: National Higher Education Policy on Entrepreneurial Learning (5/6) • Conference organized by ETF in Bitola “Entrepreneurship in Higher Education” on 20 Nov 2009 • At one private University opened first Faculty for Entrepreneurial Management (Sep 2009) • Will follow: • Rector’s conference organized by the Minister of Education and Science (September 2010) • 4th International Conference for Entrepreneurship, Innovations and Regional Development – Through Entrepreneurial Learning to Innovations and Regional Development, 8-10 May 2011, Ohrid Macedonia (www.iceird.org) Phase 2: Pilot Project in entrepreneurship in higher education
