  14. QUESTIONS/ANSWERS • Isn’t that too much exercise for my teenager? Children and adolescents should do 60 minutes or more of physical activity each day. • What if we are already members or American Family Fitness or the YMCA? Answer: There are no additional fees for students or families. $300.00 summer academy tuition includes any costs HCPS incurs for use of fitness centers as well as heart rate monitors and dell laptop agreements. Waiver Forms required. • What if my son/daughter already swims 8 hours per week with swim team? 8 hours of basketball or Boy Scout camp? • Answer: That’s great! However, only 20 hours of individual personal activity time may be recorded by students in the online H/P.E. courses. A total of 70 clock hours are reported for physical activity during the course for state requirements for P.E. instruction. Health Modules also include 70 hours. Total required hours =140. • What if we are scheduled for family vacations in June or July? This would be a smart time to wear the heart rate monitor to use the 20 hours of individual activity. However, you may want to sign up for online H/P.E. during another summer since the three mandatory meetings are required and may conflict with the family vacation dates. • Others?
