Getting Organized • Schedule regular study hours. • Plan to spend two to three hours studying for each hour spent in class. • Try to study at the same time and in the same place each time you study. • Use small pieces of time well. • Don’t procrastinate. Table of contents
Getting the most out of time • Start projects as soon as they are assigned. • Divide a large task into small, manageable chunks. • Use small pockets of time well. • Attend ALL classes. • Use daytime hours as much as possible. Table of contents
Finding even more time • Say no to invitations every now and then. • Turn off the television. • Limit the number of extra-curricular activities you participate in. • If possible, decrease work hours during exam weeks. • Keep an organized schedule.
Types of Schedules • Daily –to do lists –Prioritize each item. • Monthly –To see what’s coming up –write down assignments as soon as they are given. • Semester –To keep track of important dates. Click on the type of schedule to see examples.

Semester Schedule • Examine your toughest weeks. Note paper deadlines, exams, tests, quizzes, and major assignments. • Break up large tasks into smaller ones that can be spread out time-wise. • Not all assignments are equal. Determine how much time you may need for larger assignments. Return to Schedules
Procrastination • Do unpleasant tasks first and get them over with. • Break down unpleasant and/or difficult tasks into small steps and then tackle them one at a time. Nothing funny down this road > > > > Continue
Procrastination • Give yourself a deadline and let others know what it is. • Get help from someone. There is no rule stating that you have to do everything yourself. Be careful… time really does fly! Continue
Procrastination • Do the easiest part first so you can get started. Once you are moving, it is easier to continue. • Fixing a problem early is always easier than having to fix the mess after it's been going on for awhile. Continue
Procrastination • Get organized so you can take advantage of momentum. • Before you start, make sure, as best you can, that you have everything you willneed to complete the project. • Get started and keep the momentum going until you finish.
