Vocabulary • Square • to multiply a number by itself • Example: 2 Squared = 2 x 2 = 4 • Perfect Squares • numbers that have whole number factors you can square • Example: 5 x 5 = 25 • 8 x 8 = 64 • 13 x 13 = 169
Square Root • one of two equal factors of a number • The SQUARE ROOT of 36 is 6, because you can square 6 to get 36 • 6 x 6 = 36 • Radical Sign • used to indicate a square root • CANNOT have a negative UNDER the radical sign
