  10. INFORMATION FOR WEDNESDAY EVENING CHECK-IN WHAT IS BEING CHECKED – IN WEDNESDAY NIGHT? Suitcase Instrument (s) Performance Attire Music Prescription Medication WHAT IS BEING CHECKED – IN THURSDAY? • Backpacks • Pocketbooks • Your Pockets Parents are welcome to see the students off on Thursday but are asked to wait outside the building. Also please do not to park anywhere in the front part of the school. The coach buses need room to get around and students need to be safe.

INFORMATION FOR WEDNESDAY EVENING CHECK-IN • Medical Check-In See First Responder, Dom Studer • Luggage - • (1) suitcase – small to medium size – 50# maximum • (1) carry-on (i.e., a backpack) • Performance Attire – • Tuxes, A cappella Dresses and Mixed Chorus Robes will be boxed on Tuesday April 9th. • Above Items Must Be Returned to School on Monday without fail • All other Performance Attire will be packed in your suitcase • Instruments - • Small Instruments – piccolo, flute, clarinet, oboe –Packed in suitcase • Carry On Instruments – Violin, Viola • Percussion – will be crated including sticks, mallets • All other instruments as luggage

  12. INFORMATION FOR WEDNESDAY EVENING CHECK-IN • Check In - • Chaperones will inspect for illegal substances in: • Suitcases • Instrument cases • Carry-ons • Chaperones will ask to see: • Performance Attire (all pieces including shoes & socks) • Music • Instruments

Luggage Size & Weight • Each checked Piece of luggage: • Maximum weight is 50 pounds • Maximum size is 62 inches • (length + width + height) • Anything over these limits not acceptable • Make sure you have identification inside your suitcase in addition to id tag put on at check-in. • Carry-on bag size limit 10x16x24 inches.

What Is Allowed As A Carry On For additional & specific information, please refer to www.tsa.com • All food must go through the X-ray machine. • All food must be wrapped or in a container. • Beverages will not clear security • After going through security, you may purchase beverages that can be carried onto the airplane.

Bring on Board 3-1-1 For more info visit - www.tsa.gov 3 -1-1 for carry-ons = 3 ounce bottle or less (by volume) ; 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag; 1 bag per passenger placed in screening bin. One-quart bag per person limits the total liquid volume each traveler can bring. Declare Medications (Inhaler & EPI Pens) -They are not required to be in the zip-top bag. Declare these items for inspection at the checkpoint.

Transporting Musical Instruments • MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS AS CARRY-ON • Allowed to have: • One Musical Instrument (designated by teachers only) • One Carry-On Item (i.e. your backpack) • One Personal item (i.e., ladies pocketbook) • Instruments will be X-rayed or physically screened through security • INSTRUMENTS BEING SHIPPED AS BAGGAGE • Include short written instructions, where a security officer will notice them, for handling and repacking your instrument – just in case they need to check the instrument after going through x-ray. • Make sure these instructions are very clear and understandable to someone with no musical background. • Insure your name and address is securely placed inside your case • Security Officers should be careful and understand the sensitivity of instruments

FAA Rules • Airports are run by the Federal Government • No Fooling around • No Verbalizing or Acting Out to be “funny” • No talking about Hijacking, bombs, terrorism, guns, knives or anything else similar • They (Feds) Will Take You Away & We Can’t Do Anything About It! We Leave, You Stay! Providence or Sanford

Identification • Under 18 • School ID, Library Card (something similar) • 18 and Over • Federal or State Issued Picture ID (i.e. driver’s license) • Info must include: • name, date of birth, gender, expiration date and a tamper-resistant feature in order to be allowed to go through the checkpoint and onto their flight. • If Not a Citizen, • You are traveling within the United States • If required to carry documents by your native country, do so • If taking a passport, there are safes in each room or your chaperone can hold in the chaperone’s safe.

Itinerary – Wednesday Night April 10th • 5:00–9:00 pm Check-In at Marlborough High School – See your chaperone and follow check in procedure. • 5:00 pm to 5:45 pm : Mrs. Wood, Mrs. Bloomquist, Mrs. Crowell • 6:00 pm to 6:45 pm: Mrs. McCarthy, Mr. McCarthy, Mrs. Bilancieri, Ms. Klein • 7:00 pm to 7:45 pm: Mr. Harding, Mr. Brown, Mr. Woodworth, Mrs. Dass • 8:00 pm to 8:45 pm: Mrs. Syers, Mr. Syers, Mrs. Bouvier, Mrs. Chamberlain • If you have a conflict and cannot make it your assigned time, please work out a mutually convenient time with your chaperone tonight. • Everyone going on the trip MUST check in their luggage, instruments on Wednesday evening.

INFORMATION FOR WEDNESDAY EVENING CHECK-IN • STUDENTS – • Find your chaperone behind the tables in the foyer. • Get in line and wait quietly for your turn. • Your parents or a substitute adult should be with you. • After your chaperone says you are finished checking in, please leave the building. There are too many people for the limited space. • IMPORTANT: • Once your items have been checked in, YOU WILL NOT HAVE ACCESS to the contents until you are at the hotel. • PARENTS – • Parents are asked to come and stay with your student until the chaperone says the check-in is complete and it’s okay to leave. • This is just in case your student has forgotten anything that is part of the check-in.

  23. INFORMATION ALL STUDENTS MUST GO TO SCHOOL ON THURSDAY, April 11th TO GO ON THE TRIP! • Suggestion: • Leave books & items you don’t need with you in Florida • at home or in your school locker • MHS will be open Wednesday – Friday of vacation to retrieve items you need from your locker

Thursday – April 11th • Students will be dismissed from their classes at 12:16 pm. • Report to their respective music rooms. • Students will be called by chaperone to have your carry on items checked in and board bus. • Buses leave no later than at 1:30 pm Note: Only sealed beverages will be allowed on buses • Box Dinner will be served on the plane • Arrival at hotel approximately 9:00 pm – 9:30 pm • Dining Card $10 available for snacks at Food Court

Thursday – April 11th Upon Arrival at the Hotel Unload buses Take Instruments from box truck and put on appropriate bus Take luggage and go to your hotel room Hang Up Your Performance Attire! • Note: • Performance Days are Friday and Saturday • Thursday and Friday nights will be early nights • All students will be in their own rooms by curfew

Thursday – April 11th • $10 Dining Cards can be used in Food Court of Hotel & all Disney Parks • Like Debit Cards = cash (don’t loose them) • If you don’t use all $10 in a single purchase the balance can be used until all $ is spent • Can Only use Dining Cards for Food (not in convenience type stores)

  29. Helpful Hints • Bring a sweatshirt or jacket for buses and planes (A/C will be on high and chilly) • Parents can come to school to say good-bye • Parents please wait outside. • There will be very little time to load everyone and leave.

Meal Coupon: At specific food locations at all the parks and hotel food court (see back of meal coupon for specific restaurants) Includes: Entrée, Side, Beverage, Dessert (if too much food, get something pre-wrapped to eat later)

Tuesday – April 16th • Room/Hotel Check Out ** Load Luggage/Instruments • Leave for Blizzard Beach or Animal Kingdom (tentatively split depending on sign up) • Load buses to return to Sanford Airport • Leave FL to Providence (Dining Card for breakfast; coupon for lunch; box dinner at the airport) ** If students are staying in FL with their families, we will contact you before we leave Marlborough to make specific arrangements.
