What does UNFPA do? UNFPA supports countries in using population data for policies and programmes
That every pregnancy is wanted… 200 million women do not have access to safe and reliable family planning methods. UNFPA is a leader in helping countries to reach the goal of Universal access to family planning methods!
That every birth is safe… Every day 1000 women die in pregnancy or childbirth. Many others are harmed by childbearing injuries. UNFPA helps women to enjoy the right to give birth safely!
That every girl and woman is treated with dignity and respect… UNFPA works to promote gender equality, the status of women and the involvement of men!
That every young person is free of HIV/AIDS… 40% of all new HIV infections worldwide are young people. UNFPA works to scale up HIV prevention efforts while addressing gender inequalities!
That the needs of affected population are met in humanitarian crisis… In 2011 approximately 39% COs affected – flood, famine, civil war Provide medical care & social support for survivors of sexual violence Emergency reproductive health services Provide minimum initial service package (MISP)
