Article 1: Legislative Branch HTMS 7th Grade Civics • Congress is bicameral (made up of two houses) - the Senate - and the House of Representatives • Senators and Representatives are directly elected by the people of their state.
Article 1: Legislative Branch HTMS 7th Grade Civics The House of Representatives: has 435 members. Each state has a different number of representatives based on that state’s population. -The Speaker of the Housepresides over the House.

Article 3: Judicial Branch The Judicial branch is made up of Criminal and Civil courts. The highest court is the Supreme Court. Made up of 9 justices.
Article 3: Judicial Branch The Supreme Court: The President appoints the Supreme Court judges then, the Senate must approve each appointment. There are NO Constitutional requirements to be a Justice. The court listens to cases and decides by majority vote.
Article 3: Judicial Branch *There is no term limit, that means they can serve on the court for the rest of their life.
Article 3: Judicial Branch Some duties of the Supreme Court: Hear cases of treason. Resolve disputes between states. Can declare laws unconstitutional. The Supreme court is the highestcourt and has the final say.
