Each bakery has a start. Each is different. Le Pain Quotidian started in Brussels, Belgium in 1990. Orwashers was started by a Hungarian family in 1916.I interviewed a worker at Orwashers and asked what she likes about working there and she said that she likes the workers and customers and snacking on the breads. Insomnia Cookies started when Seth Berkowitz baked and sold cookies to classmates at the University of Pennsylvania in 2003. Crumbs was founded in 2003 on the Upper Westside. F P Patisserie opened its doors in 2012 on third avenue.
This is Le Pain Quotidian. Le Pain Quotidian has pastries, bread, and lunch. They have jams, spreads and honey. This bakery is in many different countries and all over the city.
This is Orwashers Orwashers is a bread bakery but, it also has treats like a bakery usually does. They have two different bread samples each day. Orwashers has been around for nearly 100 years. They even have mini treats!
This is Crumbs and Insomnia Cookies Some bakeries are one type of treat. For instance, Crumbs sells cupcakes and cakes and Insomnia Cookies only sells cookies. Crumbs and Insomnia Cookies both opened / started in 2003.
This is F P Patisserie There can always be a wide variety at a bakery. Treats, bread, jams, spreads, even honey can be found in one bakery.
This is Anneliese’s Some bakeries a lot of different foods. Anneliese’s has soup as well as cakes and cookies and doughnuts. It’s a homemade kind of bakery.
As you can see there is a wide variety of bakeries on the Upper East Side. Each one is different. The variety of bakeries offers an opportunity to try new things.
