  3. Joy versus Happiness The world speaks of being happy. The Christian should also be happy. In New Testament times "joy" was a common greeting for the disciples Matthew 28:9 – Luke 1:28 – Acts 15:23 2 Corinthians 13:11 – James 1:1

  4. A Trait of the Lord We are striving to be more like Christ. Christ was a man of joy. John 15:11 - John 16:22 - John 16:24 Notice the “Sermon on the Mount”. Matthew 5

  5. Early Christians Were Full of Joy Acts 13:52 Romans 14:17 Philippians 4:4 1 Thessalonians 5:16 The man of sorrows brought us abundant life. John 10:10

  6. Early Christians Were Full of Joy Jesus talked about His followers becoming little children. We must learn to trust God for blessings and then we'll be happy. Matthew 6:25-34

  7. Concluding Thoughts Christ came to bring true joy to those with troubled hearts. The concept of joy is found over 800 times in the Bible. Paul says in Galatians 5 that we are not to be like the world. That happens when we belong to Christ.
