Local Environmental Assessment MCC is Genesee County’s largest single source of higher education, providing educational and job training opportunities to one out of every two households in the community. In 1970 we had nearly 200K residents in the city and 80K GM jobs compared to 110K in the city and 6K GM jobs currently More jobs in health overall than at GM and MCC is the largest provider of health programs in the county Service area includes campuses in Flint, Fenton, Lapeer, Clio and Howell, Michigan; class offerings at high schools; the Mott Middle College High School; Workforce Education Center; three CTCs; and two MTECs. Large numbers of persons pursuing careers in health who needed support that we could not provide alone. Target Population Previous Graduates of C.N.A. training (FHEO Project – Renewal Community) Incumbent Workers from local area hospitals and nursing homes Workforce Investment Act participants TANF/JET participants Objectives To learn what strategies are the most effective and what it takes to move students through an educational curriculum and into mid- to high-skilled jobs with healthcare. Through the Empowerment curriculum to see what improvements it can make in the lives of the students and if it can help them to achieve success in a timely manner.
