  2. first most The paragraph is the important paragraph MUST It have each of the following parts: Openingof 3 to 4 sentences that introduces topic Clearly stated opinion in one sentence Arguments (2 to 3) listed in one, clear, to the point sentence Alead inof 2 to 3 sentences that re-states the topic and opinion

  3. Each subsequent paragraph should state an argument and at least two to threereasons and/or examples for that argument.

  4. The Conclusion… - most difficult to write - should be the best part of your paper/assignment/essay - is often what the reader remembers the most How to write it? Restate main idea (2-3 sentences) Express opinion (1 sentence) Repeat 3 arguments (in different words) Closing statement (globally)

A more experienced writer would … Answer question “So What?” - show why this paper/your opinion is important Synthesize, not summarize - don’t repeat things in your paper – They have read it - show reader how the points you made and the support and examples you used were not random, but fit together - demonstrate how your ideas work together – create a new picture Re-direct the reader - give your reader something to think about – perhaps a way to use your paper in the “real” world – Think globally

  11. News is educational. For example, climate change has been a big news item for the past few years. The news has reported how scientists have concluded that humans are destroying the environment with pollution. Paying attention to world news will first educate teens of the dangers of climate change. Secondly, news will teach teens to change their habits in order to stop climate change. Paying attention to world news helps teens to be aware of the world around them. Last week the news reported the injustice of force labour in third world countries. It has been reported that countries forced children as young as nine to work in factories for very little pay. Many companies such as Nike and Nestle do business in these countries. Hence, if teens are aware of these news items, they would not only be aware of the issue, but they might change their spending habits. Finally, being aware of world news can empower teens. The future belongs to teens. By paying attention to world news, teens will know what politicians stand for. Being aware of political news will let teens know what politician to vote for. This can empower teens in that politicians want the “all important” teen vote.
