  2. Memory VerseJohn 14:2, “In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.”

  3. “Do not let your heart be troubled.” - Phase Two security to be remembered after the failure so that you will not be discouraged and quit.

  4. By believing in Christ as the Mediator between God and man we gain comfort.

  5. HeartKARDIA –The mentality of your soul where you do your thinking. The function of the soul.

  6. TroubledTARASSO – disturbed, upset, terrified, frightened or stirred up. The Passive means you receive the action of the verb.

  7. Don’t let some external factor cause fear, worry or anxiety in your soul. John 14:27

  8. Jesus knew what it was to have a “troubled” heart, John 11:33; 13:21, so He is saying, “Do not become discouraged in the mentality of your soul.”

  9. BelievePISTEUO – have faith or entrust. a) In the Plan of God the Father for your life, death and eternity.

  10. b) In whatever Jesus Christ has taught, including what He was about to accomplish; the Cross, resurrection, ascension and session.

  11. Verse 2, Jesus is going to His Father’s house. John 13:3, 33; 16:28

  12. House = OIKIA –a house or dwelling and is used to describe the 3rd heaven, God’s abode.

  13. “Many dwelling places” POLUS MONE w/ vs 23. The permanency of our heavenly home and eternal union with the Father and Son.

  14. It was customary to send one ahead, for such a purpose. Num 10:33

  15. Num 10:33, “Thus they set out from the mount of the LORD three days’ journey, with the ark of the covenant of the LORD journeying in front of them for the three days, to seek out a resting place for them.”

  16. Principles:1) Jesus Christ is departing to heaven to personally make ready a room/place for Peter and all believers.

  17. 2) This place does not depend on your success or failure. It depends entirely upon the Plan of the Father and the work of the Son.

  18. 3) Therefore (operation grace), all believers have eternal security. No matter what we do in time we can’t lose our salvation.

  19. Verse 3, His Second Coming:1) The Rapture of the Church prior to the Tribulation.1 Cor 15:20-27; 51-55; 1 Thes 4:13-18

  20. 2) The 2nd Advent when He literally returns to planet earth to establish His millennial reign.Zech 14:4

  21. Christ “the Carpenter”, Mark 6:3, is building a heavenly home for all who have trusted Him. And He will return to receive His own to Himself.

  22. Had Christ remained on earth, He could not have prepared the heavenly home for His own.
