Important Features • Light lines throughout the area are Bus Routes • Routes to Dallas, Irving, Carrolton, Farmers Branch, and Addison • Serves 14 total cities and it covers 700 square miles • Heavy Lines are Rail • Red and Blue Dart Light Rail • Green TRE (Trinity Railway Express)
Important Features • Travels 24 times daily between Dallas and Fort Worth along the Trinity River • Effective March 7, 2005. • Nine Stations along the Route • Two of the Stations are less than a mile directly north of Arlington • Hurst/Bell • Centreport/DFW Airport
Important Features • Designed along major arterial routes • Due to: • Central Business Area (Downtown Fort Worth) • Use of Large Bus Mode • System Includes Downtown Entertainment oriented bus system.

The Environmental Issue • The Metroplex is a non-attainment area for ozone according to the Environmental Protection Agency. If DFW does not achieve attainment by 2007 the federal government can impose sanctions that include withholding federal grantsfor roadway projects.
Benefit to Arlington Public Transportation will: earn revenue from the profit of the services. help achieve the environmental goals of the Metroplex. attract more visitors and residents to Arlington.
Recommendations Arlington should build stations that connects The TRE and will connect to DART and The T, in the north of the city. Develop a bus system to service these stations as well as certain high traffic areas, such as: • Ameriquest Field and the future Cowboys’ stadium • Six Flags Theme Park and Hurricane Harbor Water Park • Six Flags and The Parks Malls • The University of Texas at Arlington • Entertainment district • Downtown Arlington
