Reviving the Women in Engineering (WIE) Chapter • I sent a notice to the section re: this week’s Region 6 WIE 2-day event at Google • I asked for volunteers to help revive chapter • As a result of this email and this event, about 40 people are willing to help • I set up a google docs spreadsheet to keep track of these people • These people can edit their info • I set up an email listserver to allow communication • At least two WIE volunteers are at this training event

John Swan: Chapter ideas • Finding speakers: • Your Society’s publications • Conference speakers & keynotes • LinkedIn searches • Your Venue Host: New & Important! • Find a Champion at your host company! • Preferably VP level or SVP • Take out to lunches with your officers • Invite to SVEC Banquet (Feb.)
John Swan: Chapter ideas • Enthusiasm • Have a vision and a passion for what you do • Share your vision with your team • Encouragement • Recognize key contributors at tech mtgs. • Public recognition • Certificates, etc. • Continually recognize your Host!

Paul Wesling: Chapter ideas Chapter volunteers for your ExCom: Always have 2 or 3 MORE slots than current volunteers (to show openness) Entrain one or two regular technical meeting attendees, to do a minor job – then move them to more responsibility
