  9. Enforcement • Original intent was to track enforcement outcomes of unpermitted changes • Time constraints did not allow a thorough evaluation of enforcement activities

  10. Take Aways • Between 2005 and June 2013 ~1500 feet of shoreline armoring was removed via restoration projects ~1570 feet of new shoreline armoring was constructed

  11. Take Aways • Between 2005 and June 2013 More trees and shrubs are being cleared along the shoreline than are being replanted/restored or naturally re-establishing—continuing a decline noted in 2012 WRIA Status and Trends report

Take Aways • Most of the changes involved repairs to existing infrastructure • Relatively low compliance rate on Vashon/Maury (18%) compared to mainland jurisdictions (52%) and2 other studies-Bainbridge (80%) & San Juan (50%) • Did not attempt to answer why people are or aren’t getting permits
