  3. What needs does it fulfill? • Increase in Population • Increase Employment • Increase in popularity • Increase in revenue • Increase in retail districts • Increased Funding • Encourage Community Participation

  4. How is it Vital? • Population in 2000- 1,500 people • Population in 2010- 1,916 people increase of +27.7% • Estimated Population in 2013-14- Double the increased population so between 400-800 people. -example: community college

Money? • Government grants for parks Ex: Saint Louis Park over $350,000 in grants to programs throughout the community of St. Louis Park • Urban Green Space Program This development will make money by: • Uniting the community • Encouraging volunteer efforts • Special Events - Walk of fame - Free Concerts in the Park • Reinvestments/ investments back into the community

  8. Life Improvements • Trying to decrease the unemployment rate from 12.7% Current residents • Job opportunities for people in the neighborhood Surrounding areas • Increase in neighborhood • Increase in business activity

  9. How Much Land? START: Jackson Place Park, West of Market St. STOP: North Florissant Ave

  10. Money • 35 million dollars at the most for the project • Funding: -Government Grants Ex: Parks and Green Spaces Levy Opportunity Fund -Government Bonds -Bank loans -Business investments

  11. Parks and Green Spaces Levy Opportunity Fund • 15 million dollars for park and property projects • 8 million towards projects in 2012/2013 • Ex: Seattle • Map of unusable gaps • They are filling in the gaps with green space
