It Is Possible • No perfect, “good” men – Rom. 3:10 • But, Noah was upright in his generation, Gen. 6:9 • Joseph – Matt. 1:19. • Simeon – Luke 2:25 • So Cornelius, Joseph of Arimathea, and many others • What makes a “just” man?
Characteristics • Generosity – Acts 10:2; Prov. 21:26; 29:7 • Mercy – Psalm 37:21 • Weighs his words – Prov. 15:28. • He is truthful – Prov. 13:5; 17:7 • Wisdom is with him – Prov. 9:9; 10:31. Titus 1:8, an elder is “sensible.”
He knows justice – Prov. 21:15. I Cor. 6:1f He is thankful – Psalm 140:13
The Walk of the Righteous • And Pleasure – Titus 3:3; 2 Timothy 3:4 • Profit – I Timothy 6:10 • Pride – James 4:6 • Moral decay – Isaiah 28:8 • Poverty, slothfulness – Prov. 20:13; 23:21 • Integrity – He respects God, therefore is respected. We may not “like” him, but respect him.
A Blessing To His Children • Usually later in life. • Prov. 31:28. • We may resent the discipline, required “chores”, and lack of worldly emphasis. • But when our character is developed we realize much of it is instilled by a “Just” man.
