5 Common Dental Problems and Treatments When we speak about mouths, the teeth first come into the picture because not only do they enable food to be broken down before consumption but also adds into a beautiful smile. Dental problems are seen across all the ages, from small kids to old adults. Our mouths act as a system for consumption as well as breathing, therefore any one single problem might effect a set of systems. Most of the dental issues that affect people can be avoided if the proper practices are followed but some others do require medical attention. Here we have listed some common dental problems along with the treatment. 1.Cavities This the most common dental issue faced by a lot of people. Cavities or tooth decays tasks place when a mixture of bacteria and sugars produce an acid that eats away the enamel of the tooth. The main reason for cavities is the diet that is consumed, things like cakes, sweets, soda, smoking, etc. factor into it. Cavities can cause toothaches, sensitivity, and headaches. Treatment: If you brush regularly at least twice a day and consume foods rich in nutrients especially calcium and reduce smoking, cavities can be avoided. Once it has set in a dentist visit is mandatory. Depending on the severity the treatments would include, filling, crowning, roots canals, and teeth extraction. 2.Crooked teeth
Unfortunately, the onset of crooked teeth cannot be controlled by any prerequisite measures. In this situation, the teeth do not appear to be aligned and are out of place. This can affect the ability to chew properly, breathing, speech, and self-confidence. Treatment: The primary form of treatment for crooked teeth is braces. They could be metal, ceramic, or synthetic. For severe cases, surgery would also be recommended. 3.Chipped teeth Chipped teeth are a common occurrence is people who are engaged with a lot of contact activities, like sports, construction, etc. When a piece of the teeth is broken off due to external trauma it causes a chipped tooth. A chipped tooth can cause certain discomforts to the person, like the inability to have proper speech and self-esteem issues. Sharp edges can affect other parts of the mouth. If the situation is left as it, it can cause further deterioration or even an infection. Treatment: If you are fine with showing off a chipped tooth, then self-care would suffice like maintaining. Else, the dentist would cover up space with a filling or a stronger more permanent bonding element. 4.Ingrown teeth When a permanent tooth doesn’t break through the gums to align with the rest of the set, it is an ingrown or impacted tooth. This can be partial breakage or no breakage at all. It mostly happens when there isn’t adequate accommodation space. Treatment: A mouth X-Ray would reveal ingrown teeth and the most recommended procedure to remove this would be surgery. 5.Gingivitis When the gums present in our mouth have an accumulated amount of tartar or plague around them it can cause degeneration of gum health. This could lead to inflammation of gums, bleeding, teeth sensitivity, and even tooth loss. Treatment: A dentist would first assess the tartar build-up and proceed with a procedure calling scaling, which gets rid of the tartar. To prevent further gingivitis, prolonged brushing and flossing are required, along with an antiseptic mouthwash.
