  2. Welcome • Inside your packet: • Power point • At Home tips • GKIDS questionnaire • Parent Questionnaire- This is where you can let us know any questions you would like answered at your fall conference.

  3. Language Arts • English/Language Arts/Writing • These areas are all inclusive with our dailyLiteracy Centers • Focus on the development of reading and writing skills • Differentiatedguided reading groups to develop reading skills

  4. Writing We begin by focusing on our illustrations, and then add invented spelling to match them. As the year progresses, the students will write more than one sentence with correct sentence structure that will match their illustration.

  5. Math • Common Core Math -The topics covered include: ~number naming ~Counting by 1’s and 10’s to 100 ~shapes (2D & 3D) ~ graphing ~ measurement ~ addition ~ subtraction

  6. Social Studies • Units include • All About Me • Community Helpers • Map Skills • Holidays & Customs • American Presidents and Symbols • Rights & Responsibilities

  7. Science • Units • Five Senses • Life~Living/non living • Earth ~Day sky/night sky • Rocks and soil Plants and animals • Physical~ Comp of materials Motion & gravity

  8. Fall Conferences • 15-20 minutes each • Will discuss the report card and any additional questions/concerns • Sign-Up before you leave
