Proposal for annual activities MEAP-TT Focus areas: • Demonstration of improved biological/biogeochemical model skill through data assimilation • Downscaling from global to regional systems for biological/ biogeochemical model applications • Assessment of dependence of model skill on biological/biogeochemical model complexity with emphasis on model portability and predictive skill • Demonstration of usefulness of green OO products to end-users Cross-cutting activity • Identification of metrics for system evaluation in view of transfer to operational services

Proposal for annual activities MEAP-TT Implementation => through yearly workshops details are presented on next slides HOWEVER workplan probably be too ambitious, needs to be adjusted at the first MEAP-TT workshop MEAP-TT activities • will engage the sponsors and encourage collaboration with GOV-TT and relevant communities (e.g. IMBER) through symposia and workshops • will aim at transforming reports into papers whenever possible

Proposal for annual activities MEAP-TT Implementation Through yearly workshops Year 1 (target spring 2015) 1) discuss and define the strategic research directions and specific 5-year and 1-year work plans - 2) establish an inventory of biogeochemical/ecological applications based on OO products by running a dedicated survey Expected outcome 1) Refined implementation plan and breakdown of TT activities into achievable yearly milestones 2) Inventory of applications available on GODAE/GOV website

Proposal for annual activities MEAP-TT Year 2, objectives 1) Evaluation of the impacts of physical/biogeochemical data assimilation on model skill across GODAE/GOV systems and in comparison with published studies 2) Refine assessment through a coordinated inter-comparison exercise between OO groups 3) Hold MEAP-TT workshop Expected outcome Report on strengths and weaknesses of OO products (in both real-time and delayed mode) for biogeochemical applications
