  3. History Table tennis is called "National Sport" in China. It has been developed together with the national sports career since 1949, and it really has brought a lot of encouragements and happiness in the past 50 years. The National Table tennis Team was founded in 1952. It has won more than 100 world gold medals which include the first world gold medal of the PRC, the first women's world gold medal and the first team world gold medal. It had also won all the gold medal at the World Table Tennis Championships for three times and at the Olympic Games for two times. Of course, it experienced its ebbs. But it has been a first-class team in the world for more than 50 years, which is a miracle in the world.

  4. Table tennis was also used as a diplomacy. One of the first public hints of improved U.S.-China relations came on April 6, 1971, when the American Ping-Pong team, in Japan for the 31st World Table Tennis Championship, received a surprise invitation from their Chinese colleagues for a visit to the People's Republic of China. Time magazine called it "The ping heard round the world." On April 10, nine players, four officials, and two spouses stepped across a bridge from Hong Kong to the Chinese mainland. They were the first group of Americans allowed into China since 1949.

  6. Deng Yaping Deng Yaping is the greatest women's table tennis player in the world. She was born in the city of Zhengzhou, Henan Province. She began to learn table tennis at 5 years old, and was selected to the National Table Tennis Team in 1998. She had kept world No.1 in table tennis for 8 years. Now she has married Lin Zhigang, who came from Guangdong Provincial Team and had been a main force in the National Team for several years.

  7. Zhang Jike Zhang Jike is a great Chinese table tennis player. He was born on February 16th, 1988 in Qingdao. When he was five years old, he started learning table tennis from his father. He joined the first national table tennis team in 2003. In 2012, he won the first prize with Wang Hao in the World Table Tennis Team Championship. He beat Wang Hao and got the gold medal in men’s singles in the Olympic Games in London.

  8. Mass Basis Table tennis is popular in China and has a board foundation among Chinese people. In China, you will see table tennis and its players everywhere. Both elder people and children can do it more or less. Many variety shows choose table tennis to active atmosphere.
