Thesis Checklist Thesis Checklist... 1.Take a Stand -Make an argument not a statement -arguments answers the question EX. Statement: Solomon Brown was a slave Argument: Solomon was a hero 2. Expresses one or two clear ideas -Don't try to prove too many arguments.... - If you have more than one group then limit yourself to just one aspect (or maybe two) of heroism -If you only have one group then include at least two traits/aspects of heroism -If you want to only show some groups as heroes and others as not then just focus on one aspect of heroism 3. Specific -show exactly what your essay will be about -Specify or tell your reader the time, group of people, and aspect/characteristic of heroism you are discussing -using words like "because," "since," "so," and "although." EX. Abolitionists in the North during the 1800s were heros because....(DO NOT GIVE EVIDENCE just state your traits of a hero)
