Dissertation workshops TIME MANAGEMENT STUDY SKILLS USING ELECTRONIC RESOURCES EXPERIENCES OF GRADUATES
Why do we need dissertation workshops? • In response to issues about dissertation preparation which students bring to the Enquiry and Library Helpdesk • To provide support to dissertation students with their research and planning • To highlight resources that are available
The Session! • Who? Should we target specific groups? • What? What would be most useful to them? • When? Timing is important – when should we hold it? We wanted the optimum effect
First Session Facts • 50 students took part • 4 sessions over 2 days • 18 international students • Students who attended were on MBA/MSc/BA/MA courses • Subject areas: Humanities/Business/Art/Science
What did the students say about the session? Useful things about the sessions: ●Planning and preparing for your dissertation ●Staff sharing their knowledge and experience ●Tips on how to survive the process
Session Feedback ●Why not provide this service at the start of the course? ●How to write the perfect proposal! ●Will there be more workshops like this?
