Current situation • WHO and polio Regional Certification Commission consider Philippines at high risk for wild poliovirus importation and subsequent polio outbreak • We concur with this assessment for the following reasons • Routine immunization coverage gaps • No wide scale supplementary immunization since 2002 • Surveillance not sensitive enough • High population density areas • Frequent international and domestic population movements

Purpose of MR OPV MI 2014 • To interrupt transmission of measles(Tipdas)and rubella (german measles) • To protect the population from the consequences of importation of wild poliovirus • To link the Mass Immunization to routine immunization by identifying high risk communities for routine immunization using the Reaching Every Purok strategy
