The Need for Information Society Dialogue • Humanity and cities are at the start of a long-term information-society LEARNING PROCESS • There are HOPES of a better society for all • There are FEARS of a widening gap between information-rich and information poor (the ‘have’ and ‘have-nots’) • The CHALLENGE is to realise the hopes and diminish the fears • ONE ANSWER is by building together, sharing knowledge and experiencesbetween cities
What is the Global Cities Dialogues • The Global Cities Dialogue provides a vision and an invitation to build together an Information Society for all; • It is also an open framework for action, participation and inventiveness • No fixed recipes
