R2E Mitigation ProjectStatus Report 2nd R2E Committee Meeting R2E Project Report
Follow-Ups R2E Mandate: not required for Chamonix presentation, propose however that we reorganize the website according to committee and project (according to current understanding) Safe-Rooms:phased approach agreed upon -> see last slide “Benchmarking”: -> see report from Marco Layout drawings: 90% ready, whom to contact to include them into the official repository Memorandum for P5: update from RP + safe room discussion to be included -> rather a report than a memorandum? R2E Project Report
R2E Highlights (Dec, Jan) Calibration, Calibration, Calibration Priority: Ready for 2012 • Detailed Analysis of 2010 Operation • RadMon, BLM & Ratios • TLD Results for low-rad readings • Analysis of losses/luminosities/intensities • Shielding & Integration • P5 close to baseline (few issues: e.g., support structure) • Opening of shielding tender (21.1.) • Shielding update for US85 • P1 issue through UX/UL wall • Power-Converter R&D • Project advancing (conceptual studies) • 1st course on radiation hard developments held (for TE/EPC) • Extensive component test campaign for 2011 (test request?) • Collaboration set up with University of Montpellier & TRAD • Safe-Rooms • phased approach developed together with EN/EL(waiting for safety input for phase-I, EN/EL for phase-II/III) • Critical point for baseline in P5 and P7 • Benchmarking (good agreements with FLUKA) • UX85/US85 • IR7 + … R2E Project Report
Safe-Room Update • phased relocation approach which foresees: • a first relocation of the most sensitive control equipment (racks: EYU, EYC and EYP) • 230/48V supply from the surface (safety light + remaining 48V equipments) • AUG verification and options (surface or other location) • relocation of remaining (so-far judged low-risk) equipment, especially in case new (sensitive) components have to replace the existing equipment Reduce Risk Improve If Required Radiation Tests in H4 R2E Project Report
Further • Failure Rate • 2010 Radiation Level Analysis • Update of Estimate (scary) • Interesting • Loss balance not available (so far) by OP • Many issues with quality of logging (and signals) -> difficult for anlaysis • Aiming for 50ns in 2012 (~100MJ or 1/2nom @4TeV) See Chamonix Slides R2E Project Report
R2E Global Strategy & Dates • Study Phase (2008-2010) • Calculations, Early Actions, Strategy • Panic • Evaluation • Project Proposal (2010) • Testing, Evaluation, Mitigation Plan • Resources • Struggling • R2E Mitigation Project (2011-2016) • Medium Term • R&D For Long-Term • Evaluation • Long-Term • Shielding & • Relocation • P1, P5, P7, P8(+ small items) • Power-Converters • Rad-Tol Solution • SCLs • Horizontal/Vertical Links • Combination • Relocation • Rad-Tol Equipment • SCLs • (Civil Engineering) • Monitoring • Analysis, Calibration • Testing • Component & System Tests Key Dates (Status 01.2011): 02.11.
