General Guidelines to Capital Raising • Talk to EVERYONE about your company and make it clear you are looking for investors. You never know where the money will come from, and you’ll be building a genuine network. • Conversely, don’t spend a lot of time chasing investors who don’t understand your business. If you have to explain everything about the industry you’re entering, they’ll likely pass, even if they like you and the company. There are exceptions to this, but they’re exceptions. • Hire the best attorney and CPA you can find. These people are fundamental to building and protecting your business. You will frequently be in touch and should have a solid rapport. When starting, ask for a flat fee billing structure or a quote for the services performed. Interview several candidates before moving forward. The Founder’s Narrative CITE BootCamp January 2013
DO THIS: • Get experience at a company. Consider it paid training. • Tell EVERYONE about your idea. Be tireless in your pitch! • Invest in legal documents early in the ideation process. • Obtain intellectual property rights over as much content as you can. • Always be looking for capital to fund and grow your company. • Be as concise as possible in follow up communication. • Hire the most qualified people. • Take command of your personal life. Do not expose yourself to the wrong kind of risk. • Scrub your social media profile. Investors and customers will be looking you up. Are you projecting the image of success? • Know what success looks like. Fill your mind with things, people and places that inspire you! The Founder’s Narrative CITE BootCamp January 2013
Entrepreneurship is much more about attitude, perseverance and work ethic than a high IQ. • Surround yourself with those of like mind and spirit. • Live in the right place. • Don’t be easy on yourself. Don’t rationalize failings or blame others. The most successful people are those who consistently question themselves. • Starting and building a company is hard, and this is a good thing. • Don’t be afraid to tell people no. • Entering the world of entrepreneurship teaches one a tremendous amount about themselves and how the world actually works. • The modern world is a meritocracy. • There’s never been a better time to be a smart person with big ideas – as long as one’s willing to put the time in. • The joy is in the journey. Learn to love it! The Founder’s Narrative CITE BootCamp January 2013

Founder Bio Alex Garner is the Founder and CEO of YUMIX. He has been involved in the Company since inception. Alex has been in the consumer packaged goods industry since 2006, working in sales with both ConAgra Foods and Coca-Cola Refreshments. The "light bulb" moment for YUMIX occurred in late 2010 while Alex was drinking an Odwalla Pomegranate Limeade on his back porch in Austin, TX. Realizing that consumers would enjoy the opportunity to create cocktails in a recreational environment, he set out to create a product that would fill this hole in the market. He believes the ready-to-mix cocktail and two-compartment bottle will create a dynamic and disruptive product within the beverage industry. Alex graduated from The University of Texas at San Antonio in 2006 with a Bachelor of Business Administration, in Business Management, with a concentration in Small Business and Entrepreneurship. Alex’s tenacity and will to succeed have been the driving force behind YUMIX. He believes YUMIX will give consumers, particularly women, something entirely different. A ready-to-mix cocktail with fresh juice and a premium spirit is long overdue. CITE BootCamp January 2011
