  3. Why is my child eligible for the Talented and Gifted Program • Eligibility criteria is set by the State of Georgia and Fulton County. • Students in TAG have earned qualifying scores in 3 of 4 categories:

What will my child learn? • Units will extend and enrich the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards in Science and Social Studies. • Each marking period will focus on a different TAG benchmark. • Creative Thinking and Problem Solving • Advanced Research • Higher Order Critical Thinking ∞Advanced Communication Skills will be evaluated all 3 marking periods

  5. When will my child go to TAG? TAG is a one day per week, pull out program; however, students return to their homeroom for… • Math time • Special Area instruction • Lunch

  6. Will my child have extra work? • New information may be introduced in homeroom when students attend TAG class. • Students are responsible for homework given by their homeroom teacher on their TAG day. • TAG teachers rarely assign homework.

  7. What will my child need to bring to class each week? • A pencil • Their Agenda • Their homework (take-home)folder • A snack • A lunch (unless purchasing from the cafeteria) • A mind that is willing to learn new things A more detailed list of supplies will come home soon along with teacher assignments

  8. What did my child do in TAG today? • Your child will bring home a WDIDITT (What Did You Do In Tag Today) sheet every week. • This form contains a synopsis of our day and an update about your child’s social skills and work habits.

  10. Where do we go from here? Middle School • TAG and 5th grade teachers make recommendations for placement in Language Arts, Science, and/or Social Studies based on 1st semester grades and fall ITBS scores. • Math placement is determined by the general education teacher.
