River Styx Tract • North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA) funded by USFWS • Alachua County has partnered in 4 phases of the North Florida Wetlands Conservation Project resulting in $1million for each phase for the partners • A match of cash (50%) or land is required. • Alachua County received $1 million for Whitehurst (Phase 2) • Previous Match Tracts: Perry, Barr Hammock

  3. River Styx Tract • Phase 3 brings $550,000 to Fowler’s Prairie, adjacent to ACT/Alachua County’s Little Orange Creek and City of Hawthorne’s LOCCHEC complex. • Protects headwaters of Orange Lake • No cost to the County • Many stakeholders and partners: Alachua Conservation Trust, Conservation Trust for Florida, Putnam Land Conservancy, Hawthorne, Friends of Little Orange Creek • SJRWMD meeting in April to approve Notice on R. Styx
