2. Spray painting • Spray painting is a painting technique where a device sprays a coating (paint, ink, varnish etc.) through the air onto a surface. The most common types use compressed gas, to accurately direct the paint particles. • In some industries, such as production of bikes, the particles are given a charge, and the bike frame is given an opposite charge (I.e. positive and negative). This means less paint is wasted as the paint particles are attracted to the bike frame, making the process more accurate.

3. Transfer techniques on plastic • This is simply the cutting out of vinyl using CAMM 1, a machine which you can see to the left of you. Simply draw the desired lettering/shapes on 2D design, then print them out. The cut out vinyl can then be placed on another surface, usually another plastic.

4. Etching • Etching is the process of using strong acid to cut into the unprotected parts of a metal surface to create a design in the metal. • In pure etching, a metal (usually copper, zinc or steel) plate is covered with a wax which is resistant to acid. The artist then scratches off the wax with a pointed etching needle, where he/she wants a line to appear in the finished piece, so exposing the bare metal.
