What is a Unit-Based Team? • Labor-Management Model to improve patient experience and quality care . • Brings frontline managers, workers and physicians together to make full use of each individual’s expertise, to make decisions about how to improve the unit. • Focuses on improving performance in that unit by finding efficiencies and better ways of doing day-to-day work. • UBTs will support DHS priorities: performance, service quality, efficiency, and growth.
A Proven Model • Kaiser Permanente – Over the last 7 years they’ve implemented this model – have you seen improvement as a patient? • LAC/USC General Hospital EVS – Went from 2% Patient satisfaction with cleanliness of hospital to 70% satisfaction in a year and a half! • Numerous other healthcare and non-healthcare organizations
