Myths and Misconceptions • All anti-virus programs are the same – it doesn’t matter what I use • I can’t lose my data just by getting a virus • Adding a second anti-virus program makes your computer safer • Apple computers are immune to viruses • You can’t get a virus if you have anti-virus installed
Myths and Misconceptions • Passwords and password security are are not worth the hassle. • It’s OK to use the same password for all of your online accounts – who can remember all those passwords! • Two factor authentication is too much work to bother with

Computer Safety 101 • Don’t accept any calls from anyone claiming to be Microsoft, Google or other tech support company…it’s a SCAM • Beware of paid ads on Google – be sure that the domain is for the company you expect….the name directly before the .com, .net, etc. • Just because it pops up or flashes – doesn’t mean you should click on it. • The Task manager is your friend-use it to end Internet session when you run into trouble
