Internet Safety 101 Internet Safety 101 is an online learning experience for all eighth grade students at Keith Valley.
Internet Safety 101 The course is designed and delivered through the Learning Management System, MOODLE, through the collaboration of the Technology and Guidance departments.
Internet Safety 101 Moodle is an open source, web-based program, which allows students to easily access assignments, retrieve documents, click on information links and post responses.
Internet Safety 101 The course is introduced to the students in the fall through the Technology Education department. Students learn how to log into the online course and complete a digital use survey.

Internet Safety 101 • Digital Footprints • Students review the Internet survey results, analyze the data, and post comments through the course website.
Internet Safety 101 • Safe Surfing • Students read an essay on Internet use and reflect on their how they can be responsible internet users.
Internet Safety 101 • Cyber Bullying • Students review cyber bullying cases in the news and determine appropriate consequences.
Internet Safety 101 • Social Networking • Students review information and post comments to the discussion forum about the pros and cons of social networking.
Internet Safety 101 Students complete the four-module, online class independently during the first semester. All assignments are handed in through the online course.
Internet Safety 101 Students receive a PASS/FAIL grade for completing the coursework. All modules must be completed to receive a passing grade.
Internet Safety 101 iMentors are teacher volunteers who monitor student progress and are available to answer student questions and concerns.
Internet Safety 101 Parents are introduced to the online course at the beginning of the school year and are encouraged to learn with their children.
Internet Safety 101 • As a culminating activity, eighth grade students participate in the Anti-Cyber Bullying Fair (ACBF). • Students work in small groups to design activities, posters, skits, websites and presentations to share with sixth grade students.
