Opened the conversation with a simple question – Acts 8:30 The eunuch recognized need for someone to teach him- Acts 8:31 • Did not understand the identity of whom he was reading- Acts 8:32-34; Isaiah 53:7,8 • Philip taught him – Acts 8:35 • Willing student and a willing teacher – Acts 8:37,38

  5. God’s Design For Teaching Taught disciples concerning kingdom – Matthew 5:2 Commissioned His apostles to teach – Matthew 28:19,20 • Apostles carried out this plan – Acts 5:28 • “Doctrine” = “teaching”

God Chose Men As The Instruments Of Teaching 1 Corinthians 1:21 2 Timothy 2:2 “commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others” • Acts 22:8; 9:10-18 – Ananias to Saul • Cornelius – Acts 10:3,4; 11:14 • Earthen vessels bear message – 2 Corinthians 4:7 • Philip a good example – Acts 8:30-35

  7. The Need To Be Taught “taught by the Lord” in Old & New Testaments – John 6:45; Isaiah 54:13 • O.T. points out close association of wisdom, knowledge & understanding – Proverbs 4:7; 9:10; 8:1-11 • N.T. shows need to be taught – Ephesians 4:17-21; Hebrews 5:12

Insufficiency Of Knowledge Who was there, among men, that knew everything & needed to be taught nothing? • Eunuch realized this – Acts 8:31 • It was Apollos’ problem – Acts 18:24-26 • Gentiles needed to be taught- Ephesians 4:18 • Jews needed to be taught – Luke 4:15-18,21,32 • Disciples of Christ needed to be taught – Acts 11:26; 18:11

  9. Scriptures Are For Teaching 2 Timothy 3:16-17 NKJV 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

  10. Increase For All Involved Teaching Allows All To Grow – 2 Peter 3:18 Ones taught are strengthened So also are the ones who teach “Increase our faith” – Luke 17:5

  11. Some Requirements To Have Full Effect: Doctrine of Christ is taught – 2 John 9 That eyes, ears & heart opened to teaching – Matthew 13:13-15 Obedience to teaching- Romans 6:17
