NAS - Historical perspective • All association agreements in force at the time of the first selection decisions in IST. • Relatively slow start of NAS participation • Thinktank meetings • 28 September 1999, 18-19 October 1999 • List of recommendations • Session at IST99 Helsinki • Specific Action line for NAS • ISTC NAS meeting 11 September 2000 • ISTC NAS meetings with KA’s -> specific KA activities in and for the NAS.
Current status • Success rate NAS is improving: 11% after first call; 16% after four calls • Specific support projects being contracted: • IDEALIST-FP5, EASIST, EVIKINGS, EMERGE, BALRIC-LING
IST International Support Activities • Enabling RTD Co-operation with Newly Associated StatesAction Line VIII.1.6Objective : To build awareness of IST and facilitate the formation of project consortia which include partners from NAS.Focus : thematic, information and partnering networks, regional information centres, facilities and web-sites, enhancing the scope of existing IST actions and organisation of events. Continuous submission; 6th call.
Proposals for extension with NAS partners • All IST project types can be extended • New WP’s or inclusion in existing WP’s • Extension should be useful : minimum 1 year • New partners/work should add value • Submitted by co-ordinator of existing project together with: • All existing + new NAS partners • Large majority of extension budget to new NAS partners • Include existing Annex I • Proposals indicate VIII.1.6 and AL of existing project • Extension proposal will be evaluated as new proposal • Only projects can be extended: not actions in negotiation ! • Implemented through contract amendment • Appendix in Guide for proposers
IST International Support Activities • Enabling RTD Co-operation with 3rd Countries Action Line VIII.1.7 • Objective : To build awareness of IST and facilitate the formation of project consortia which include partners from 3rd countries. To support and develop more efficient means of co-operation with such countries.Focus : thematic, information and partnering networks, facilities and web-sites, organisation of events. Co-ordination with other major RTD frameworks via partnership workshops and conferences. Continuous submission ; 6th call
