Needs rain Soil should be rich as cocoa and like many other plants need rich soil. This is just the climate in Brazil. Human Factors Since the cacao tree is so weak and sensitive the farmers plant bigger trees and grow them as shelter for the cocoa beans. This is probably the most important priority. It requires training to be able to know if the cacao pod is ripe and ready to be cut. Since the cacao tree is so weak and frail the workers risk killing the tree is they climb the tree to collect the pods higher up, so the workers use special knives to do that. But when they get them down they normally use a machete to cut the pod in half. Physical and Human Factors
