It had a transfer rate of 625 KB/sec and was one of the first storage devices to hold its memory on a disc. • Todays drives can hold over on TB of information, can transfer files at over 200 MB/sec and now we have storage on flash memory. • The ST506 is very important to computer history because it marks when hard drives became the primary source of storage in computers.
