  3. Seeks to reduce variation in and promote minimum standards of careprovided for people living with diabetes. • Aims to provide comprehensive support, structure and recognition to a range of informal clinical problem-based learning opportunities for staff at all levels.

  4. Provides ‘bite-size’ competency specific learning relevant to staff’s level and roles. • Staff who successfully complete any of the chosen topics available will achieve certification in that topic valid for 2 years. • Provides opportunity for staff to gather evidence for re-validation purposes.

  5. Cambridge Diabetes Education Programme • Lambeth CCG have commissioned 250 licenses • 4% currently utilised • Each practice has been allocated two licenses – (suggested one GP and one practice nurse) • To date, 12 practices registered with CCG (23 people) • 11 accounts registered • 7 general practice • 4 community services • To register – contact lamccg.medicinesoptimisation@nhs.net • Login details will be sent by the medicines optimisation team

Specialist or Care Sector Specific Topics available: • Nutrition & physical activity for non-dietetic staff • Screening and early detection of type 2 diabetes • Pre-conception care • Managing diabetes in hospital • Managing diabetes in residential and care homes • Carbohydrate counting and MDI dose adjustment

  9. Once a topic is completed, a certificate can be generated for the specific topic at the level of knowledge demonstrated …
