Curriculum (MSc in SEEM) • 3 required courses: - Principle of Engineering Management - Models and Decisions with Financial Applications - Information Technology Management • 5 elective courses from three baskets or 4 elective courses + SEEM 5910 (at most two from each): - Engineering Management - Information Systems - Financial Engineering • Students may take no more than 2 courses in other programmes, e.g. MSc in ETL under Division Head’s approval. )

  3. SEEM 5910 Project in SEEM • Under the supervision of the course instructor, students carry out a practical project in Systems Engineering & Engineering Management.Company visits and field studies may be required to help students understand different business operating environments and their implications for solution development. • Important Note: Students are not allowed to take more than one project course (Either SEEM5910 or ECLT5850).

Curriculum (MSc in ECLT) • 4 required courses - Fundamentals of E-Commerce Technologies - Electronic Payments Systems - Logistics Management(Reimbursable by The Continuing Education Fund, for local students only) - Engineering Economics • 4 elective courses from 2 baskets (at least 2 from each) - Internet and Information Systems - Enterprise Solutions • Students May take no more than 2 courses in other programmes, e.g. MSc in SEEM under Division Head’s approval. )

  12. Term Dates • First term period: • Sept 5, 2011 (Mon) - Dec 3, 2011 (Sat) • Add/drop period: Sept 5 – 19, 2011 • Second term period: • Jan 9, 2012 (Mon) – April 20, 2012 (Sat) • Add/drop period: Jan 9 – 26, 2012

  13. Duration of Study Part time --- Normally two years, maximum four years. Full Time --- Normally one year, maximum three years.

  14. Study Beyond Normative Period • Continuation Fee HK$3,750 per unit (HK$11,250 for a 3-unit course) A student may apply for a waive of the continuation fee if a non-repeated course(s) is taken to fulfill the graduation requirement • Student Visa Extension • The student should submit a certifying letter (to be applied at the Graduate School website) together with an application form for visa extension (which can be downloaded at the HK Immigration Department website) to the HK Immigration Office directly. • Student might need to return to his/her hometown to process a new visa label subject to the approval period granted for the current visa. • For details, please contact the Graduate School office or HK Immigration Office (The Graduate School will make announcements/guidelines for visa extension at the end of 2nd term)

  15. Graduation Requirements • Should complete the prescribed course work with a GPA of 2.0 or above. • A student shall be required to discontinuestudies in the programme, if his/heraccumulative GPA is below 2.0 Letter Grade A A- B+ B B- C+ C C- D D F Grade Points 4.0 3.7 3.3 3.0 2.7 2.3 2.0 1.7 1.3 1.0 0.0 A = Excellent A- = Very good B+, B, B- = Good C+,C,C- = Fair D+, D = Pass F = Failure

  16. Graduation Requirements • Students admitted in 2004-05 and thereafter will be barred from graduation if they do not pass the IT Proficiency Test, irrespective of whether they have attended the intensive course. Multiple attempts are allowed. • Students admitted in 2004-05 and thereafter, who have passed the International Computer Driving License Test, will be given exemption from the IT Proficiency Test upon application. (The application form for exemption is available on the SITC homepage.)

  17. Honesty in Academic Work • The Chinese University of Hong Kong places very high importance on honesty in academic work submitted by students, and adopts a policy of zero tolerance on cheating in examinations and plagiarism. • Any related offence will lead to disciplinary action including termination of studies at the University. • More details can be found at http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/policy/academichonesty/

  18. Awards for Outstanding Students Awards will be given to students who achieve excellent academic results at the end of the study period. Details will be announced soon.

  20. Study Room & Lockers for full-time MSc students • Study Room: ERB503 and ERB 904(students have to prepare their own notebooks if needed) • Lockers: • We have some lockers (in grey) in the 5/F & 9/F. • Students may apply for using a locker by sending an email to our office / Ms. Kenix Yeung (wtyeung@se.cuhk.edu.hk). • Lockers will be randomly allocated to students on a first-come, first-served basis
