  3. The Beginning Initially, she was spoiled, but she was not a mean person. Her behavior wasn’t bad. Then, she realized that she had so many things and some people didn’t have anything.

  4. A Gift from Heaven Without knowing what it was, she gave her mother’s wedding gift away. She was not gratitude. She became a mother to a little boy and was so happy.

  5. The Water Then, there became a very bad flood six years later. She was astonished. So, she became a governess.

  6. Mrs.Lu So then, the Chi-lin purse is what people usually used to put their wooden name-tablets of their ancestors. It was a tradition. So Mrs.Lugot down on her knees and cried, “You are my benefactor!” she said to Hsiang-ling.

  7. The half Finally, Mrs. Lu recommendedshe would divide her land in half and give Hsiang-ling one half. So when Hsiang-ling told people about the Chi-lin purse she would end the story as, “ If you ever have a chance to do something good, you should do it.”
