  17. How do the characters relate? • Mother is loving and caring, gave Hsiang-ling everything but Hsiang-ling was spoiled and ungrateful of her mother at first. • Hsiang-ling helped Mrs. Lu at first by giving her the purse full of wealth and Mrs. Lu was generous by sharing her property evenly.
