IN THIS PASSAGE Importance of a Christian’s Loyalty to their Government God’s will for Function of Government: Take Vengeance on Evil Doers & Praise Good People V.14 Our purpose for serving the government – silence those who accuse us as being anti-government VV. 15,16 We do this as Free men and women in Christ, but should not abuse our freedom by using laws as excuse to sin V.16

  3. HONOR ALL MEN God Honors All Men- 2 Peter 3:9 “not willing that any should perish” Titus 2:11,12 “grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men” Acts 10:34,35 “God shows no partiality”

  4. HONOR ALL MEN We Must Honor All Men- Matthew 22:39 “love your neighbor as yourself” Hebrews 13:2 “entertain strangers” Matthew 5:44-48 “love your enemies” “rain” & “sun” on the “just and on the unjust”

  5. LOVE THE BROTHERHOOD 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 All found among brethren 2 Peter 1:7 add “brotherly kindness” philadelphialove for brethren Romans 12:9-18 “kindly affectionate” 1 John 4:21 “he who loves God must love his brother also.”

  6. FEAR GOD Ecclesiastes 12:13,14 “fear God and keep His commandments” Matthew 10:28 “fear Him who is able to destroy soul & body in hell.” Hebrews 12:28,29 “serve God… with reverence and godly fear” Proverbs 1:7 “fear of the Lord the beginning of knowledge”
