  2. What is History? • Most basic form: our past. Most of everything we do is connected from the past. • Historians: study our past. They want to know why we people did what they did when they did it.

  3. Culture What is it?!?!

  4. Definition • A group’s sets of common values and traditions, including language, government, and family relationships.

  5. Project

Your job 25 Points • Make a picture like the one I just designed. • You must identify at LEAST 6 ideas/concepts that make up your culture. • You may do this on: a blank sheet of paper, drawing, cutting out magazines, computer print offs, etc. A plastic plate, or a PowerPoint similar to what I did.

  9. Archaeology • Study of what people have left behind. • If you know yourself, you can understand others and MA YBE understand the world.

  10. Think-Pair-Share • What do you all think history books will say about today’s world?

  11. Understanding Clues… • We have different types of clues: Artifacts, and Fossils (to name a few). • Fossils: something that was once alive (Dinosaurs, Mummies) • Artifacts: created and used by humans: Bible, Hammurabi Code, poetry, weapons, and tools.

  12. Different types of sources: • Primary and Secondary • Primary: person actually watched it take place: Obama election, September 11 • Secondary: Someone who did not witness it take place. • You may not interpret history as myself, your friend, etc. Once you acquire all the information then you should base your evidence.
