Status • The Wire This has been one of the main holding items. At the moment is due to be delivered in the next 3 weeks. I have tried to source a UK supplier but without success. • Bobbins We have the original 3 bobbins one of which has 6 completed coils (awaiting wire to finish). Plus we have 3 more that are awaiting QA and then slitting at Oxford. These 3 look much better than the originals and I would prefer to use them depending on the timescales. There is also a further 1 possibly 2 at ACP should we choose to purchase them. • Electrical Distribution Boards We have enough boards at present to manufacture 3 complete units but they are made in house (IC) and we can get more as required. • Cooling Jacket Eamonn has taken the original design and improved on it. It now looks compact and efficient. • Gluing Jig This is completed but may need slight modifications/development when we use it.
Conclusions Its been a long drawn out process where the items that were expected to take the least work and sweat turned out to be the difficult ones and vice versa. We hope that we have now ironed out most of the problems and can start to build stators early in the new year. We feel that most of our problems have been addressed though the slight worry is still the HV breakdown. There is a further process we can pursue if this continues to be a problem and that is to insulate the bobbin but this can be expensive.
