Some comments first… • We are about to make a large investment in $ and time. Let’s make sure we are doing so for good reason. • All of these sites have their issues: • COS01 • Beyond all known glacial advances • Likely served as an outwash surface during most glaciations (At?, Sag? Itkil?) • Our sampling transects a thick organic horizon and enters light grey silts with thin segregation ice horizons. • My guess is that we sampled a stable, low slope surface down to a loess deposit of unknown age. The organics are mixed as blebs into the upper silt, suggesting cryoturbation at that interface.
