  2. Learning Objectives By attending this session, participants will be able to: Recognize Appendix A of the DOE WAP Rule 10 CFR, Part 440, as a resource for materials selection. Describe DOE requirements for energy audit software. Locate DOE guidance related to energy audits and priority lists. Operate NEAT energy audit software for single-family homes. ENERGY AUDIT SOFTWARE

  3. Terminology ENERGY AUDIT SOFTWARE For the purposes of this lesson: • House Assessment - On-site data collection, visual assessment and diagnostic testing. Sometimes called the site audit. • Energy Audit - 2-Parts: House assessment and analysis with approved software. • Priority List - Used in some states instead of software, a list of cost-effective measures for typical housing stock. Also describes the list of cost-effective measures produced by audit software for a specific house. • Work Order - Instructs crew and contractors what to install in a given home.

  4. Energy Audits ENERGY AUDIT SOFTWARE An energy audit includes: • Assessment and analysis. • Recommendations energy saving measures. • Recommendations for incidental repairs and health and safety improvements. The energy audit provides the justification and basis for the work order.

  7. Audit Software Tool Requirements ENERGY AUDIT SOFTWARE • All the information from the house assessment is entered into a DOE-approved audit software tool. Software requirements: • Measure interaction • Climate specific • Cost inputs • Lists measures in order of decreasing SIR

  8. Weatherization Assistant ENERGY AUDIT SOFTWARE • A DOE-approved measure selection tool for single family (NEAT) and mobile homes (MHEA) • Calculates savings and SIR • Users set up libraries

  9. Audit Software Tool - Results ENERGY AUDIT SOFTWARE Audit software lists measures with allowable SIR. Auditor creates work order for the home.

Summary ENERGY AUDIT SOFTWARE • Weatherization measures must be evaluated for cost effectiveness by a DOE-approved audit software tool prior to installation. • Weatherization materials must be consistent with those outlined in Appendix A. • Installed weatherization measures must have an SIR equal to or greater than one.
